July 4th 7:30 am: Smokey Bear Fun Run A terrific way to start the day, the 2 mile and 10 K Smokey Bear Fun Run, a casual sporting event for the whole family. Register for the race by 7am at the start-finish line in the park just behind the old train station at the intersection of Pine Lodge Road (Highway 246) and Smokey Bear Blvd. (Highway 380) Information: George Tippin, 505.354.3232
10:00 am: The Capitan Chamber Smokey Bear 4th of July Parade. Capitan celebrated Independence in a big way. Don�t miss this venerable Lincoln County tradition. Open to all, the parade attracts an eclectic entries of all descriptions reflecting the culture and traditions of the west. This year�s categories include patriotic, military, musical, motorized, equestrian, open, kids 12 & under and best dressed cowboy and cowgirl under 12. Trophies will be awarded for each category. The outstanding entry will receive the traveling Capitan Chamber of Commerce award. Show your colors! There�s still time to register for the Parade. Smokey Bear Calf Scramble at every performance 9pm�1am: Kick up your heels at the rodeo dance. $5 per person, toddlers free
July 5th and July 6th 12:30pm: Ranch Rodeo. Cheer on your favorite team of working cowhands. Wild cow milking, team penning, team branding, team tying, trailer loading, special jackpot wild horse race.
