Capitan Chamber 4th of July Parade', 10:00 am Saturday, July 4th, 2009 2009 Parade Theme is �Capitan , A Lot to Like� The Capitan Chamber July 4th Parade is a time-honored Lincoln County Tradition. Last year we set another new record. With your participation, we can beat that! Don�t miss this opportunity to place your business, organization, yourself or your kids in the spotlight.
1. Registration: Registration Deadline is Friday, June 26, 2009. Late entries will be placed at the end of the line and will not be judged! NO EXCEPTIONS! Please read and complete the enclosed application carefully and return to the Capitan Chamber of Commerce. Applications are due by 4:00pm Friday June 26, 2009
2. Line-Up and Disbursement: Lineup begins at 8:30 am. The Parade begins promptly at 10 am. Barring an emergency, the parade will keep moving at 5-8 mph. All entries will be lined-up on Forrest and accompanying side streets, with the exception of Fire & Emergency vehicles and Equestrian Entries, which will line up on Hwy 380 as directed.The parade will end on 2nd Street after turning off Lincoln. You will be contacted with your line-up number and street instructions. If you have not received your line-up number by July 2nd, contact the Capitan Chamber of Commerce.
3. Dimensions & Design: Float dimensions should not exceed: width 13', length 40' (including tow) and height 13'. Choose your category & show your colors!
4. ATV�s, 4-wheelers, dirt bikes, motorcycles & similar vehicles: Helmets and eye protection are required by law for everyone 18 and under on all such vehicles. Children 16 and under are limited by law to driving a 90cc maximum.
5. Kids Entries: Age 12 and under: All float and pickup truck entries carrying children under age 12 must have an accompanying adult on the float or in the bed of the pickup. Our children are our heritage. We must be responsible for their safety. Bike or walking entries must have an accompanying adult on the parade route.
6. Candy must be thrown far enough off the road to prevent children entering the road to collect it. Please see that everyone in your group adheres to this precaution.
7. Judging Entries: Contestants will be provided their line-up numbers for judging by July 2nd. They must be placed on the passenger side of vehicles or floats, or on the backs of pedestrian, equestrian, and bicycle contestants. If the numbers are not visible, the entries cannot be judged.
8. Prizes: There will be awards for each of the following categories: Patriotic� Military� Musical� Pedestrian- Equestrian or Horse Drawn- Motorized Vehicles� Tractors- Open - Kids Entries (12 & Under)- Best Dressed Cowboy and Cowgirl (12 & Under). Most Outstanding Entry Will Receive the Chamber Traveling Trophy. Judging will be based on interpretation of theme, workmanship, originality and overall impression. Entries will be judged as they pass the reviewing stand in front of the Chamber Office. Trophies will be available at the Chamber Visitor's Center from 1pm-3pm on July 4th. Trophies not picked up on July 4th will be available during regular office hours or by special arrangement .
